I believe anyone with a dream has a little bit of entrepreneur in them. Will you ever reach your dream? If your mind is right you will never have to worry. Here's why... [5 min read]

1. Failure

The best entrepreneurs understand that there is no real loss in trying; Failure is a huge part of the process. Either you WIN or you LEARN. Thomas Edison said "I have not failed, I have found 10,000 ways that don't work." Failure forces us to be wise, humble, and resourceful. As you grow as an entrepreneur you soon will see, "the master has failed more times then the student has even tried."

2. Success

So many talented people are stifled by success. They get a taste of it too soon then become complacent or they never taste success at all because they are too embarrassed to be seen starting from the bottom. Successful entrepreneurs believe strongly that what they have to offer is valuable and it's their appointed responsibility to share it with the world. Once we embrace that service is the key to greatness, we will never be detoured by the distractions of success. Success is not about YOU.

3. Charging

The same way we must teach people how to treat us, we must also teach people how to pay us. Do what you love so well that people will be DELIGHTED to pay you for it! Invest in yourself and master your craft. When your reputation for great work precedes you, you will never have to accept any less than your worth. Magic Strategy: ASK.

4. Incompletes

Successful entrepreneurs have very ambitious daily To-Do lists and on occasion everything doesn't get crossed off. Oh well, SHI(f)T HAPPENS, right?! The key is to let the past be the past. You must develop a "What can we do moving forward?" mentality. Just remember, 20% productive for a successful entrepreneur is equivalent to most people's 80%.

5. Rules

Two things are meant to be broken; Rules & Records. We all start out playing by the rules because we're "supposed to." That's good because learning the ropes is a mandatory step #1. BUT the commonality of successful people is that we bend rules, break rules, make rules, and eventually become so valuable that the rules don't even apply. In the words of legendary artist, Pablo Picasso, "Learn the rules like a pro so you can break them like an artist."

6. Safety

Playing it safe is the most popular way to fail. The average man asks, "But what if it doesn't work out?" The successful entrepreneur replies, "But what if it does?!" Everything in life is a risk; Putting yourself in the game and shooting your shot? 50/50 Risky (A 3 Pointer). Watching from the sideline while waiting for the perfect moment? 1/99 Risky (A Half Court Shot).

7. Regret

A huge chunk of success in life comes from just showing up. Wherever the action is... You have to BE THERE to create the magic. Seize every good opportunity that comes your way.  Those opportune moments may not come again. When you're old & grey you will ask yourself three questions: Did I live? Did I love? Did I make a difference? Successful entrepreneurs don't leave room for regret.

8. Rivals

A challenge all entrepreneur's face at some point is comparing the beginning of OUR journey to someone else's middle or end. It's natural to want more and wonder "why them..?" Put things into perspective; Instagram might showcase the "highlights," but only THAT person knows what it took to get to where they are today. It may be more, It may be less, but all you can do is focus on your own contributions to the world. Let your days turn into years, and no matter what, always always always remember: Only YOU can do what YOU do the way that YOU do it. That's your edge.

9. Mistakes

Due to the collaborative nature of entrepreneurship, a successful entrepreneur must also be an effective leader. This means making tough decisions, managing relationships, and taking responsibility for the results. This is scary when it feels like your entire reputation is on the line! One of my favorite mantras, You dont need to be perfect to be great. Drew Houston,  CEO of Dropbox, said, “Don’t worry about being wrong. You only have to be right once.” I don't know about that lol but here's a Rule of thumb: Steadily admit when you're wrong, and keep on looking for what’s right.

10. Income

Ironically, chasing money is the surest way to not get it. Don’t worry about "getting rich." Focus on adding value to people's lives, focus on improving your product or service, focus on successful collaborations. These things are a magnet for the mula! A mentor of mine said this, and you might wanna write this down somewhere right now, "If you help enough people get what they want, you can have everything you want."
